During April we delivered 17 tonnes of food to local people in crisis, across Gateshead. In a “typical” month this figure would be more like 7 tonnes of food. We helped 1200 people in April, double the number we would expect to usually help.
As well as demand increasing like never before due to the current pandemic, we’ve seen a decrease in donations due to people staying at home, protecting themselves & others and practising social distancing. This is totally understandable and to be expected but hopefully as the overall situation begins to improve and it’s safe for restrictions to be eased, we hope donations will start to come in at the usual rate to enable us to continue to help local people in crisis. Stay Safe!
